Why Feed Corn Free Food?

Years ago, pet food manufacturers added a very small amount of corn to their pet foods to keep costs down.  It is an inexpensive filler that reduces manufacturing costs.  Over the years, manufacturers have been increasing the amount of corn in order to reduce costs and keep the prices down. Corn is now the largest ingredient in most commercial dog foods.  Check out he ingredient list on the package...corn is first.

Corn is a filler that has basically no nutritional value and causes many allergies in pets.  Dogs that have skin conditions, itchiness, rashes, hair loss, draining eyes may be allergic to corn and it is their own food that is affecting them.  By removing corn from their diet, their skin clears up and they no longer have the symptoms of allergies.

Most, if not all dog foods sold in grocery stores and your local department stores have corn as their main ingredient.  Diamond brand has a couple types that are corn free, all designer dog foods are corn free and "Chicken Soup For The Puppy" is corn free. Read the ingredients. These are not available at most stores. You may need to google it to find a local supplier.  We buy it at our local farm and garden.
